Pause & Paint
FAQ'S
Do I need any painting experience?
None at all. Most people who come haven't painted since school. I guide you through each step, and you can follow the techniques or just relax and paint — there's no right way to do it.
What happens in a session?
Your place is set up and waiting: canvas, paints, brushes and a hot drink. Each session has a simple theme to paint from, like flowers or fruit, so you're never staring at a blank canvas on your own. I take you through it gently over 90 minutes, with plenty of quiet time to just paint. Your painting is yours to take home at the end.
How long is a session?
90 minutes.
What's included?
Everything you need to paint, plus a hot drink — canvas, paints, brushes and a palette are all provided. You just bring yourself. Sessions are £23 per person.
What should I wear?
Something you don't mind getting a bit of paint on — it's real paint and it doesn't always stay where you put it. Gloves are there if you want them, and there's nothing else to bring.
Where are sessions held?
At cafés and community spaces around Newcastle. I move between different areas so there's usually one within reach wherever you are. The next date and place are always on the events page.
Can I come on my own?
Yes — lots of people do. It's a calm, quiet group and you don't need to bring anyone. Coming with a friend is just as welcome.
Is there an age limit?
Pause & Paint is designed for adults and a relaxed grown-up pace. If you'd like to bring someone younger, message me first and we'll see if it suits that session.
How do I book?
Through the events page on my website. Spaces are kept small on purpose, so it's best to book ahead rather than hope for a place on the day.
What if I need to cancel?
Just let me know. If you cancel at least 7 days before, I'll refund you in full or move you to another date. Within 7 days I can't refund the place, but you're welcome to send someone in your place, and I'll always try to fit you into a later session if there's room. If I ever have to cancel a session myself, you'll get a full refund or a spot at the next one.
What if I don't finish my painting?
That's completely normal — the point is the time you spend making it, not finishing something perfect. Take it home and carry on, or just let it be what it is.
Do you sell your own work?
Yes. Alongside the workshops I'm a mixed media artist, and my original paintings, prints and postcards are on my website. If something catches your eye at a session, just ask.
Can I book a private session?
Yes — I run sessions for private groups, workplaces and celebrations, and tailored ones for care settings. Send me a message and we'll sort the details.
I have access needs — can you help?
Yes. Venues vary, so drop me a message before you book and I'll tell you what to expect at that space.
