​​Pause & Paint is a mindful painting workshop held in cafés around Newcastle upon Tyne. Each session is 90 minutes of slow, guided painting — no experience needed, no pressure to be good at art. The painting is the meditation.

I'm Carolina Rosas, a mixed media artist based in Newcastle. I started Pause & Paint because I know what painting does for me. I wanted to share that with people who don't think of themselves as creative. Because you don't need to be. You just need some time for yourself.

How a session works

We meet at a local café, where everything is set up and waiting for you — canvas, paints, brushes, and a hot drink. Each session has a simple theme, like florals, and I guide you gently through colour and intuitive mark making. There's no right way to do it. At the end, your painting is yours to take home — not because it's perfect, but because you made it.

Where and when

Sessions run at cafés across Newcastle, starting at Tremolo Lounge on Gosforth High Street. Upcoming dates are on the events page — each session is unique and relaxing.

We work with real paint, so wear clothes you don't mind getting a bit messy.
