Paint your own landscape, surrounded by

the Beyond Trees exhibition.

Beyond Trees is a collection of landscapes I've been working on throughout the year, inspired by walks, light, colour and the places around Newcastle.

In this session you'll create your own landscape, not a copy of anywhere real. We'll work loosely and abstractly, building colour in layers and letting the movement of the brush shape the painting.

I'll show you some of the techniques and ideas I use in my own work, then you can take them in your own direction.

Never painted before? Better. There's no drawing involved and no need to worry about getting it right. I'll guide you through each step, at a gentle pace.

At the end you'll take your painting home with you, and you can spend some time with the full Beyond Trees collection while you're there.

I've never painted, or I haven't since school.

That's who this is for. You don't need to know anything or bring anything. I'll show you everything as we go.

What if mine doesn't turn out well?

There's no right answer and nothing to match. We paint loosely, so there's nothing to get "wrong". Most people are surprised by what they make.

Can I come on my own?

Yes. Lots of people do. With only six of us around the table, it feels friendly rather than like a class.

What should I wear?

Something comfortable that you don't mind getting a bit of paint on.

Can I bring a friend?

Of course. Book a place each.

What if I can't make it?

Cancel at least 7 days before and you'll get a full refund or a place on another date. After that you're welcome to send someone in your place.
